How to Get Coupons and Save Money

Did you know that 336 Billion dollars in coupons were distributed in 2002 and only 3.8 Billion coupons were used for a total of $3 Billion? The Promotion Marketing Association's (PMA) Coupon Council estimates 79% of consumers use coupons. The image that coupons make you look cheap is gone. Coupons have changed and anyone can learn to get in on these savings.

In your local Sunday Newspaper. Inside you'll find inserts loaded with coupons - more than 80% of all manufacturer's coupons issued in the United States are delivered in your Sunday paper.

Look in the store. You'll find coupons in the retailer's advertising flyer, on the shelf, and even at the check-out. Turn your register receipt over - sometimes there will be coupons there too!

Try samples offered in the store and you'll often be offered a coupon to take home.

Check the product package. Your favorite brands want you to keep buying their product, so you'll find coupons on the package, or inside, for the next purchase.

Open your mail box - you'll find coupons sent right to your door step. Put your name and address on coupons you redeem to get more coupons sent to you in the future.

Magazines are another great source for coupons. You'll find them right on the advertising page, or sometimes inserted between the magazine pages.

Ask at the store on Monday morning if they have any unsold papers and ask if you can buy them all at a reduced rate.

All You magazine (www.allyou.com) has lots of manufacturers coupons in it too.

Join a coupon trading group. Pantry Challenge Coupon Exchange (PCCE) and Coupon Opposites are my favorites. I've hung around several more than once and these seem the best ones

Buy a local coupon book - many are sold by schools and community groups to raise funds for good causes.

Ask for coupons on freecycle.

Ask at the store on Monday morning if they have any unsold papers and ask if you can buy them all at a reduced rate.

You can buy them in bulk at a discount price.

Join a coupon trading group.

Treat your coupons like cash.

Keep your eyes open for coupons, you can find them everywhere!
