A recent study conducted by
medical professionals indicates that happiness is contagious.
Now as trivial as this might sound, the implications of this
finding are huge. The take away lesson here is that if you
surround yourself with happy people, you yourself will move
towards happiness. An unfortunate number of people simply don't
enjoy the life that they've constructed for themselves. Very
often people embark on a career immediately after school
primarily because the job was offered to them. Many people are
not pursuing their dreams, but are instead working solely to
support themselves and their family. While from a work ethic
perspective this is laudable, the reality of it is that life
becomes increasingly difficult to enjoy, especially as one gets
older.Enjoying your life
is about balance. All aspects of your life must be operating
harmoniously, in order for you to derive the fulfillment and
enjoyment that you expect and deserve on a day-to-day basis.
What you really need to ask yourself first is how you define
happiness. For some people it is measured by success, and the
amount of money that they have. For others it is how much fun
they've managed to have on a daily basis. For yet other people
the amount of time that one gets to spend with
family-particularly their children-and maybe friends in a large
part determines how happy they are with their existence.
However you choose to think
about happiness, the amount of it within your life defines how
much you enjoy your life. The sad thing is that many people who
are fundamentally unhappy with their life and their lifestyle do
nothing to change it. They feel that they are trapped into an
existence and continue on a daily basis maintaining the status
quo but not really growing into what they want to be or become.
Enjoying your life requires a conscious effort to do so.
Even if money is not your
primary arbiter of success, your job and your income probably
have a lot to do with how fulfilled you are with your life.
Although money is not the most important thing to many people,
it is the great enabler. Having money allows you to do the
things that you want to do, and that you enjoy doing. You spend
the bulk of your life at work. If you're unhappy doing what you
do for a living, or are making insufficient money while doing
it, it's probably time for a change.
The Internet is ripe with
opportunities that can help you implement this change. Go online
and find like-minded people who are running home-based
businesses, and who enjoy their lives while making an
extraordinary income. Those opportunities are out there-your
challenge is to find them.
