If you've been wondering how to
sell photos online, you might find this article very useful. I
started to sell my photos online about a year ago and it's been
quite a learning experience.
Initially I felt a bit lost. There
were so many different options available and I wasn't sure where
to start. First of all, I realized that even though I had taken
hundreds of photos over the years, I had to ask myself this
question: What kind of photos actually sell online?
I tried to put myself into the
shoes of someone who buys photos online. That includes
magazines, web design companies, publishing companies and
advertising agencies. These companies or publications are
looking for photos of high quality and resolution to illustrate
a product, service or idea.
Over the course of a few days I
went through my photo collection and found quite a few suitable
photos that showed different objects, travel landscapes, animals
and trees. But I quickly realized that even though I had figured
out how to sell photos online, I first had to improve some of my
photos in Photoshop.
After establishing an account
with several stock photo agencies such as Shutterstock, Fotolia
and Dreamstime, I finally started to sell my photos online. I
uploaded a good part of my improved photo collection and since
that point I've been earning money each time one of my photos
was downloaded by a buyer. Of course, not all of my photos were
accepted by the stock photo agencies, but many of them were.
I told all my friends how to
sell photos online and they were very excited. You too can take
advantage of this opportunity and sell your photos online. You
don't have to go with an online stock agency; you can charge
more money per photo if you set up your own website store to
sell your photos. But on the other hand, finding a buyer for
your photos would be more difficult because you won't attract
the same kind of traffic as an established stock photo agency
does.
