Every child can do better at
school and there's no reason to suggest that a certain child is
a doomed failure. Many parents face the difficulty of improving
their child's grades. Your child's grades can be directly
influenced by you.
There
are lots of things that you as a parent can do to directly and
indirectly help improve your child's grades at school.
1) Get your child to read
novels. Yes! It may seem really unconventional to suggest your
child should read a story book but this really helps. Reading
novels increases a child's vocabulary in leaps and bounds. This
helps the child understand course notes much faster and better
thus helping improve their grades.
2) Encourage your child to be
practical about what he/she studies at school. This includes
encouraging them to read the news on stuff they are doing at
school. This includes getting he/she interested in news on
recent discoveries, scientific breakthroughs and even current
affairs.
3) Stop cramming! Discourage
the concept of cramming for exams. Get your child to ask as many
questions as he wants to actually grasp and understand a
subject. Once something is understood it will never be
forgotten.
4) Be strict on sleep timings.
Sleeping late hinders a child's concentration at school. Allow
late sleeping over weekends only.
5) Relaxation is of ultimate
importance with regard to getting good grades. Your child should
not be pressured unnecessarily and should have ample free time
to enjoy themselves. Once the brain is relaxed only then can it
accept information in a speedy manner.
6) Encourage sports. Physical
exercise makes the body fit. Not only does this reduce sickness
it also makes a person more alert.
Finally, there is nothing that
helps a child do well in school as much as the moral support
he/she receives from a parent. Always be encouraging of your
child's activities and be prepared to stand by their side for
any help they may require.
