Save Money Easily - Tips to Reduce Your Costs

With more and more people accumulating debt everyday, our nation is calling out a cry for help. By simply changing a few things in our day to day lives, we can at least make a dent in our debt problems, if not solve them completely. Many people don't realize there is anything they can do to fix their situation, but here's a few simple things you can do to save money every day!

1. Cut your shower time by five (5) minutes. This would save over 25 cents off your water heating bill each shower that you cut five minutes off of. This may not seem like a lot, but assuming you shower everyday, that would save you $100 over the course of a year! And if you have more than one person in your house, the savings are greater! Imagine if you cut ten (ten) minutes off of your shower!

2. Invest in a reusable water bottle. Many stores carry reusable water bottles for about $4.99 up to however much you are willing to pay for one and a case of 24 bottles of water typically costs $4.99-$7.99. By filling your own water bottle you save money as well as help the environment! If you bought one (1) case of water per month it would cost you about $60 per year. By filling up your own water bottle, it may cost you $5, but you'd at least save $55 per year!

3. Cut out your daily Starbucks. You may hear this a lot, but it's because it's true! Even if you only buy a $4 drink five (5) days a week, you are spending over $1,000 a year just on coffee! If you buy one seven (7) days per week you spend $1,500 a year-and that's not including tax! Instead, invest in a nice coffee mug and a coffee pot. It may cost you up to $50, but that's how much you would have spent on coffee in a week. This way you can make your own coffee for less than a dollar per day! Assuming it costs you $1 per day, your yearly coffee costs would be $260, a whopping $740 savings that could go towards something more important, like a car payment, or your child's Christmas presents!

If you are worried about saving time, set the coffee pot to automatically come on just before you wake up. You'll have a fresh pot of coffee waiting for you, and you won't have to drive to get it or wait in line!

There are always little things you can do every day to cut your costs and eliminate your debt. By being aware of the dent we put on our wallets with little things, we can cut them out or find cheaper alternatives. The examples above may not seem like a lot, but the money you'll save will add up and maybe help you think of new ways to save money. After all, who doesn't like extra money in the bank?
